Amino acids
Everyone knows the importance of protein for the body of animals and birds. Both oversaturation and protein deficiency play an important role. And amino acids are necessary for its formation.
Amino acids are the building blocks that help create protein structures. The body uses them for growth, repair, strengthening, and the production of various hormones, antibodies, and enzymes. Proteins are made up of 20 amino acids. Nine of them are called «essential»—the body cannot synthesize them in sufficient quantities on its own. This group includes: lysine, methionine, isoleucine, leucine, valine, threonine, tryptophan, phenylalanine, and histidine.
Important aspects:
- Even with a generally sufficient intake of protein into the animal's body from the outside, its deficiency may develop. This is due to the fact that the absorption of individual amino acids has its own relationship. An insufficient amount or, conversely, an excess of one of them can cause a deficiency of another;
- Four of the essential amino acids are limiting or critical. They affect the growth and development of a living organism. For example, lysine in pigs, and methionine and cystine in birds;
- One of the main aspects affecting performance is the correct balance of amino acids, corresponding to the physiological needs of the animal's body.
Functional value:
Amino acids contribute to the main metabolic processes in the body of animals and birds:
- Removal of toxins from the body in case of intoxication or pregnancy;
- Hematopoiesis;
- Vitamin absorption;
- Synthesis and breakdown of glucose in cells;
- Ensuring the energy needs of cells;
- Muscle mass gain, glycogen synthesis in the liver and muscle tissues;
- Formation of collagen and elastin;
- Participation in the synthesis of neurotransmitters;
- Formation of the immune system;
- Improving the regeneration of body tissues;
- Development and growth of young animals;
- Improving the general condition of the animal.
