The role of protein in the diet of farm animals and poultry
Protein in the body performs three important functions:
- Construction;
- Energy;
- biological.
Structural function is the provision of all tissues, organs and muscles with the necessary amount of material for the synthesis of body proteins. The energy function is to supply proteins as a source of energy. Although fats and carbohydrates are no less important sources of energy in the diet of animals. The biological function is that proteins, which are a component of enzymes and hormones, participate in the acceleration of biochemical processes and regulate metabolism inside cells.
Therefore, proteins are the main component of all living cells. They are part of their membranes and organelles. About 30% of all proteins in the body are in the muscles, 20% in the bones and tendons, and 10% in the skin. Proteins are the basis of all vital processes (reproduction, growth, development, productivity), and are part of enzymes, hormones and immune bodies.
Protein in feed
Ready-made protein supplements, vitamin and mineral complexes come to the rescue. Proteins occupy one of the most important links in the diet of animals. They are divided into two large groups: simple and complex proteins. Simple proteins are present in grain feeds to a greater extent, and complex proteins in grass feeds.
Protein concentrates are used as protein supplements in livestock farming, especially for pigs and poultry:
- HP 310 (Crude Protein 56%);
- HP Avistart (Crude Protein 55.5%);
- HP 110 (Crude Protein 57.5%);
- Soybean concentrate;
- Feed yeast 40.5%;
- Grain malt after alcohol dry 30%.
