DL-Methionine

  • Chemical formula: С5Н11NO2S.
  • Form: White or cream-colored crystalline powder with a specific odor.
  • Pharmacological properties: DL-Methionine is a monoaminocarbon sulfur-containing essential amino acid. It is used by the body as a source of sulfur, as well as for the regulation of fat and protein metabolism. In the process of sulfur synthesis, Cysteine is formed - an important substance for a living organism that supports digestive processes, neutralizes a significant number of toxins, and also protects against the negative effects of radiation. Feed methionine participates in the formation of serine and choline, which are necessary for the growth and reproduction of erythrocytes, the formation of feathers in poultry, and to prevent fatty degeneration of the liver.
  • Storage conditions: Dry, dark room with a temperature regime from 10°C to 30°C.
  • Packaging and storage: Multi-layer paper bag with an inner polyethylene liner, weight 25 kg. Shelf life – 2 years from the date of manufacture

Effectiveness of application: DL-Methionine is used during the moult in laying hens, as the need for methionine increases sharply during this period. With a lack of amino acids in the body of animals and birds, there is a loss of appetite, anemia, muscle atrophy, fatty liver, impaired kidney function, reduced fertility, reduced growth rate of young birds and productivity of adult birds, impaired plumage in birds (matted feathers, their dullness, brittleness and loss). As a result, low feed efficiency is observed. The formation of egg white slows down and, accordingly, the weight of eggs decreases. There is a violation of lipid metabolism, characterized by fatty infiltration and liver dystrophy. With a simultaneous lack of vitamin E, methionine deficiency leads to the development of muscular dystrophy in chickens and the appearance of dermatitis.

Application standards: The drug is added to compound feed, premixes and feed additives at compound feed factories or feed shops of farms. The required amount of DL-Methionine in compound feed depends on the type and age of farm animals and birds, which is determined in accordance with the approved standards:

  • Piglets (6 – 30 kg) – 0.1-0.20 %;
  • Fattening pigs (30 – 60kg) – 0.04-0.15%;
  • Adult pigs – 0.04-0.10 %;
  • Laying hens, broilers – 0.125-0.25 %;
  • Fish – 0.025-0.50 %;
  • Crustaceans – 0.025-0.25%.

Overdose: It is important to follow the instructions for use.

Special precautions: None.

Special precautions for personnel: Use protective gloves and goggles when adding the feed additive to the feed.

Forms of incompatibility: None.
