Doxycycline hyclate

  • Form: Yellow powder with a concentration of doxycycline hyclate 50%, yellow-brown solution for injection with a concentration of doxycycline hyclate 10%.
  • Pharmacological properties: The drug has a broad spectrum of activity against gram-positive (Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Bacillus anthracis, Actinomyces spp., Clostridium spp., Listeria spp., Corynebacterium spp., Erysipelothrix spp.) and gram-negative (Haemophilus spp., Klebsiella spp., Shigella spp., Yersinia spp., Pasterella spp., E. coli, Salmonella spp., Campylobacter spp.) bacteria.
  • Storage conditions: Dry, dark and cool room with a temperature regime from 5°C to 25°C.
  • Packaging and storage: Packed in aluminum foil bags, polyethylene bags, polymer containers weighing from 10 to 1000 g. Solution for injection in 100 ml vials. Shelf life is 2 years from the date of manufacture.

Doxycycline hyclate is a semi-synthetic antibiotic of the tetracycline group with a broad spectrum of action. It has a bacteriostatic effect. Doxycycline hyclate is almost completely absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract. Food does not affect the absorption of the drug. A large amount of doxycycline is excreted in the feces.

Ascorbic acid is important for the body's vital functions. It participates in the regulation of redox processes, carbohydrate metabolism, blood circulation, normal capillary permeability, the formation of steroid hormones, the synthesis of collagen and procollagen. It increases the body's resistance to infections.

Effectiveness of application: Doxycycline hyclate is used to treat broilers, breeding chickens, replacement young animals, pigs, calves (up to 3 months) for diseases of the respiratory and gastrointestinal tract caused by microorganisms sensitive to doxycycline.

Application standards: The drug is administered orally with drinking water in the following doses:

  • Calves: the therapeutic dose is 1 g per 10 kg of body weight twice a day for 3-5 days;
  • Pigs, chickens (broilers), breeding chickens, replacement young stock: the therapeutic dose is 10-20 g of the drug per 10 liters of drinking water for 3-5 days.

The solution for injection is administered intramuscularly or subcutaneously at a dose of 1 ml per 15-20 kg of body weight, once. If necessary, the drug can be re-administered after 48 hours. It is not recommended to inject more than 15 ml of the drug into one place.

Overdose: It is important to follow the instructions for use.

Special precautions: Before slaughter, it is important to allow the drug to completely leave the body. Slaughtering animals for meat is permitted due to:

  • Calves – 14 days;
  • Pigs – 8 days;
  • Poultry – 7 days.

Special precautions for personnel: Wear protective clothing when administering the product.

Forms of incompatibility: Do not use simultaneously with penicillin, cephalosporins, quinolones and cycloserine.
