Ointments

Various injuries, wounds and skin lesions occur quite often in farm animals. The reason for this is improper maintenance, the occurrence of diseases in animals, carrying out medical measures with surgical intervention, etc. The affected areas are the main conductors for pathogenic bacteria, which is why it is so important to take timely and effective measures for their treatment and treatment.

Applying the ointment is relevant even for minor injuries, as the medicine contains components that prevent pathogenic organisms from penetrating the affected tissues. If such a remedy is not applied, the wound may begin to fester, become inflamed and cause discomfort to the animal.

Thanks to the active ingredients, the ointment for animals restores damaged tissues, has an analgesic and anti-inflammatory effect, improving the general condition of animals. The regenerating properties of the drug activate metabolic processes, thanks to which wounds heal much faster.

When an animal develops skin lesions, it is first of all extremely important to determine their nature. It is necessary to pay attention to how large the lesions are. They can be:

  • Localized (small wound, spot or abrasion);
  • Generalized (a significant part of the skin is damaged).

There are the following types of diseases and injuries that require the use of ointment for the treatment of animals:

  • Wounds that are a violation of the integrity of the skin. The causes of their occurrence may be poor care of the animal or rough treatment, injuries during walking, the results of a fight with another animal;
  • Burns. The method of treating burns depends on the degree of damage. For I degree burns, it is recommended to use ointment, in more severe cases, complex therapy is necessary, which includes a whole group of drugs;
  • Eczema, which affects the epidermal layer. Signs of the disease include severe itching and red spots with a clear area on the skin;
  • Dermatitis is an inflammation of all layers of the skin. In this disease, rashes may be absent. The cause may be advanced eczema, as well as frostbite, allergies to medications, and burns.

It is important to remember that any external ointment for animals should be applied in a thin layer, without blocking the access of oxygen to the skin. If this rule is not followed, the medicine will not have the proper effect.

  • All ointments are divided according to pharmacological properties:

    • Antiseptic;
    • Fungicidal;
    • Bactericidal;
    • Anti-inflammatory;
    • Painkillers.

    Modern veterinary ointments have a complex effect and are characterized by a whole set of pharmacological properties. Ointments, when applied to wounds and mucous membranes, in addition to antiseptic, anti-inflammatory or other effects, can constrict blood vessels, reduce secretion and extraction, have an analgesic effect, and accelerate the regeneration of damaged tissue.
