Vitamin B12
- Chemical formula: C63H88CoN14O14P
- Form: Red-brown powder.
- Pharmacological properties: Vitamin B12 participates in the synthesis of methyl groups necessary for the connection of purine and pyridoxine, the components of nucleic acids, and in the production of the coenzyme methylcobalamin, which is necessary for methylation reactions. Vitamin B12 is an antianemic factor. It plays a significant role in the process of hematopoiesis, the work of the red bone marrow and the biosynthesis of nucleic acids. It contains cobalt. With the help of vitamin B12, the resynthesis of the essential amino acid methionine in the body is carried out. Cyanocobalamin affects the growth of animals, the activation of protein metabolism, and promotes the absorption of amino acids.
- Storage conditions: The drug is stored in the manufacturer's packaging in a dry, dark place at a temperature not exceeding 30°C.
- Packaging and storage: Vitamin B12 is packed in boxes or polypropylene bags weighing 25 kg. The shelf life is 12 months.
Effectiveness of application: The use of vitamin B12 is necessary to ensure normal growth and development of the body of animals and poultry. The vitamin is involved in the metabolism of some amino acids. Insufficient supply of animals and poultry with vitamin B12 causes pernicious anemia, which is accompanied by a sharp decrease in productivity, cessation of growth and complete exhaustion of the body due to the low level of assimilation of proteins from plant-based feeds.
Application standards: Vitamin B12 is introduced into premixes and compound feeds in accordance with existing vitamin introduction technologies. Recommended introduction rates (per 1 kg of finished feed):
- Chickens – 20-40 mcg;
- Chickens (young) – 10-20 mcg;
- Laying hens – 15-25 mcg;
- Broilers for fattening – 15-25 mcg;
- Turkeys for fattening – 15-30 mcg;
- Piglets – 20-40 mcg;
- Fattening pigs – 10-20 mcg;
- Sows – 15-30 mcg.
Overdose: It is important to follow the instructions for use.
Special precautions: Compound feeds with added vitamin B12 should not be exposed to high temperatures to avoid their destruction.
Special precautions for personnel: Use protective gloves and goggles when adding the feed additive to the feed.
Forms of incompatibility: None.
