Amoxicillin trihydrate
- Form: Solution for injection of amoxicillin trihydrate with a concentration of 15%, water-soluble powder of amoxicillin trihydrate of white color with a concentration of 50%, 60%.
- Pharmacological properties: Amoxicillin trihydrate has a wide spectrum of antibacterial activity. The drug is active against gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms, including Escherichia coli., Salmonella spp., Pasteurella spp., Clostridium spp., Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Haemophilus spp., Corynebacterium spp., Actinomyces spp., Bacillus anthracis, Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae, Listeria monocytogenes, Pasteurella spp., Proteus mirabilis, Leptospira spp., Moraxella spp., Actinobacillus spp.. The mechanism of bactericidal action of amoxicillin is to disrupt the synthesis of mucopeptide, which is part of the cell wall of microorganisms, by inhibiting the enzymes transpeptidase and carboxypeptidase, which leads to a violation of the osmotic balance and destruction of the bacterial cell. The maximum concentration in the blood is reached 1-2 hours after administration of the drug and remains at a therapeutic level for 48 hours. The antibiotic is excreted from the body mainly with urine and partly with bile.
- Storage conditions: Dry, dark and cool room with a temperature regime from 5°C to 25°C.
- Packaging and storage: Bottles of 10, 100 and 250 ml, polymer bags of 1000 g. Shelf life is 2-3 years from the date of manufacture.
Effectiveness of application: Amoxicillin trihydrate is used to treat cattle and sheep, pigs, poultry, dogs and cats for infectious diseases of the respiratory tract (rhinitis, pneumonia, bronchopneumonia), gastrointestinal tract (diarrhea, enteritis, colibacteriosis, salmonellosis) and genitourinary system (cystitis, endometritis, metritis, vaginitis, leptospirosis), mastitis, skin, soft tissue and hoof lesions (necrobacteriosis, arthritis, abscess), as well as for the prevention of surgical postoperative infections caused by microorganisms sensitive to amoxicillin.
Application standards: Amoxicillin trihydrate injection solution with a concentration of 15% is used in an amount of 1 ml per 10 kg of animal weight (15 mg of amoxicillin trihydrate per 1 kg of animal weight), once, intramuscularly or subcutaneously. If necessary, the drug can be re-administered after 48 hours. The maximum volume of suspension administered at one site should not exceed 20 ml.
Water-soluble amoxicillin trihydrate powder with a concentration of 50% is administered orally with drinking water or milk replacer at a daily dose of 20-40 mg per 1 kg of animal body weight (corresponding to 10-20 mg of amoxicillin per kg of body weight).
Water-soluble powder of amoxicillin trihydrate with a concentration of 60% is administered orally with drinking water or feed:
