Magnesium Oxide

  • Chemical formula: MgO
  • Form: Light gray to light brown powder.
  • Pharmacological properties: Magnesium oxide neutralizes hydrochloric acid of gastric juice with the formation of magnesium chloride. Carbonic acid is not released. Magnesium oxide adsorbs gases, neutralizes acids, precipitates heavy metal compounds.
  • Storage conditions: Store in the manufacturer's packaging in a dark, dry, well-ventilated area at a temperature not exceeding 25ºС.
  • Packaging and storage: Magnesium oxide is packed in four-layer or five-layer bags weighing 25 kg. The shelf life is 12 months.

Effectiveness of use: Magnesium oxide is used for hyperacid catarrh of the stomach, tympanic membrane of the foregut, acute gastric dilatation in horses, poisoning with salts of heavy metals and acids, poisoning with arsenic and fluoride salts.

Benefits of using Magnesium Oxide in feeding:

  • Prevention of acidosis and tetany;
  • Increasing the fat content of milk;
  • Increasing the thermal stability of milk;
  • Increased hematological parameters;
  • Increasing buffering capacity, along with baking soda.

Application standards: Magnesium oxide is dosed in the following amounts:

  • Horses and cattle – 10-25 g;
  • MRS – 5-10 g;
  • Pigs – 2-5 g
  • Fur-bearing animals – 0.5-1 g.

Overdose: It is important to follow the instructions for use.

Special precautions: Magnesium is an antagonist of calcium, phosphorus, and manganese, so an excess of magnesium negatively affects the absorption of these elements, increasing the need for them.

Special precautions for personnel: Use protective gloves and goggles when adding the feed additive to the feed.

Forms of incompatibility: Missing.
