Lincomycin hydrochloride
- Form: Completely transparent or yellowish liquid, lincomycin hydrochloride concentration is 10%, water-soluble white powder, lincomycin hydrochloride concentration is 50%.
- Pharmacological properties: Lincomycin hydrochloride has antimicrobial activity against most gram-positive microorganisms, including staphylococci, streptococci, pneumococci, clostridia, corynebacteria, and mycoplasmas. It is active against microorganisms, especially staphylococci, resistant to other antibiotics. It has no effect on gram-negative bacteria, fungi, and viruses.
- Storage conditions: Dry, dark and cool room with a temperature regime from 5°C to 25°C.
- Packaging and storage: Lincomycin hydrochloride is produced in hermetically sealed vials of 0.5 g and in capsules of 0.25 g. The powder for oral use is packaged in polymer bags of 1000 g. The shelf life of the drug: in capsules, powder - 2 years, in vials - 4 years.
The mechanism of action is associated with the inhibition of protein synthesis of microbial cells. The maximum concentration of the antibiotic in the blood is reached 20-40 minutes after administration and persists for 3-6 hours, and the therapeutic concentration - for 24 hours. Lincomycin hydrochloride is quickly and well absorbed from the injection site and penetrates into all organs and tissues of the body, including bone tissue. The drug is excreted mainly unchanged in urine and bile.
Effectiveness of application: The drug is used for dysentery and swine erysipelas, enzootic pneumonia, actinomycoses, septicemia, infectious polyarthritis, abscesses, otitis, purulent dermatitis, respiratory diseases and other diseases caused by microorganisms sensitive to lincomycin. Especially for infections caused by microorganisms resistant to penicillins and other antibiotics in pigs and calves.
Application standards: The drug is administered intramuscularly, subcutaneously and orally 2 times a day per 1 kg of animal weight in the following doses:
- Cattle intramuscularly – 10 mg;
- Pigs and calves intramuscularly and subcutaneously - 10-15 mg;
- Orally – 25 mg (no later than 2 hours before feeding).
The powder is used for poultry and pigs for 3-7 days at a dose of 200-250 g per ton of feed or with drinking water at a dose of 300-350 g of the drug per 1000 l of water.
Overdose: It is important to follow the instructions for use.
Special precautions: Lincomycin is not allowed to be used in animals with developed cicatricial digestion (adult cattle and small cattle). Slaughter of animals for meat is allowed three days after the last application of the drug.
Special precautions for personnel: Wear protective clothing when administering the product.
Forms of incompatibility: Do not use simultaneously with kanamycin, chloramphenicol, tylosin, sulfonamides.
