Ivermectin
- Form: Light yellow liquid for injection and oral administration.
- Pharmacological properties: Ivermectin causes the death of nematodes, ticks and insects. The mechanism of action of the drug on nematodes is to suppress the transmission of nerve impulses from intermediate neurons of the ventral nerve trunk to motor neurons.
- Storage conditions: Dry, dark and cool room with a temperature regime from 5°C to 25°C.
- Packaging and storage: Bottles with a capacity of 10, 50, 100, 250 ml. Shelf life is 2 years from the date of manufacture.
Effectiveness of application: Ivermectin is prescribed to animals for therapeutic and prophylactic purposes:
- Cattle (strongyloidiasis, trichocephalosis, strongyloidiasis, theliasis, siphunculiasis, hypodermatosis, psoroptosis, sarcoptic mange and chorioptosis, and others);
- Sheep and goats (nematodirosis, marshalagiosis, cooperiosis, habertiosis, esophagostomiasis, bunostomiasis, trichocephalosis, strongyloidiasis, melophagosis, estrus, psoroptosis and habertiosis, and others);
- Pigs (trichocephalosis, ascariasis, metastrongylosis, esophagostomiasis, strongyloidiasis, stephanurosis, hematopinosis and sarcoptic mange, and others);
- Broiler chickens, breeding poultry, replacement young birds and poultry during the molting period (scaridiosis, heteroacidosis, capillariasis, entomosis and others).
Application standards: Ivermectin is administered once intramuscularly (for pigs in the neck or inner thigh, for ruminants - in the croup or neck) in the following doses:
- Cattle and sheep – 1.0 ml per 50 kg of animal weight;
- Pigs – 1.0 ml per 33 kg of animal weight.
In severe cases of the disease, the treatment is carried out twice with an interval of 8-10 days. If the volume of the injected solution is more than 10 ml, it should be injected into the animal in several places.
For broiler chickens, breeding poultry, replacement young and poultry during the molting period), ivermectin is administered orally in a group manner with drinking water at a daily dose of 400 mcg of ivermectin per 1 kg of poultry weight, which corresponds to 0.4 ml/l of drinking water.
The prepared medicinal solution is given to the birds once, sometimes three times: twice with an interval of 24 hours, and then once after 14 days. To ensure that the birds receive the medicinal dose of the drug, the supply of drinking water is stopped 2 hours before the solution is given.
Overdose: It is important to follow the instructions for use.
Special precautions: The drug is not allowed to be used in lactating animals, animals suffering from infectious diseases, and exhausted animals, as well as in pregnant females whose milk will be used for food purposes, less than 28 days before the start of lactation.
The drug is not allowed to be used on laying hens and young replacement hens less than 14 days before the start of egg laying, due to the accumulation of ivermectin in eggs.
Slaughter of ruminants and pigs for meat is allowed no earlier than 28 days, and of birds no earlier than 9 days after the last application of ivermectin.
Special precautions for personnel: When working with ivermectin, general rules of personal hygiene and safety precautions that apply to working with medicinal products should be observed. It is forbidden to drink, smoke and eat during work.
Forms of incompatibility: Ivermectin should not be used concomitantly with drugs containing macrocyclic lactones due to possible mutual enhancement of toxic effects.
