Vitamin A
- Form: Brown or dark brown free-flowing powder.
- Pharmacological properties: The feed additive is used to enrich and balance the diets of farm animals, including birds, with vitamin A. The product contains retinol acetate (vitamin A) as the active ingredient, obtained chemically (not less than 1,000,000 IU/g), as well as auxiliary components: gelatin 27-32%, sugar 25-30%, antioxidant 3-5%, silicon oxide 1% and others.
- Storage conditions: Store in a dry place at a temperature not exceeding 25ºС.
- Packaging and storage: Vitamin A is packed in a four-layer paper bag weighing 20 kg and 25 kg. The shelf life is at least one year from the date of manufacture.
Vitamin A participates in redox processes, carbohydrate and fat metabolism. The mechanism of action of vitamin A is the regulation of oxygen uptake in biochemical processes.
Effectiveness of application: Provides normalization of the functions of the organs of vision, skin, respiratory tract, digestive tract, uterus. Vitamin A provides reproductive function in animals: sperm and oogenesis, embryo growth, onset of puberty, synthesis of sex hormones.
Application standards: It is introduced into compound feeds and premixes at compound feed factories or in feed shops of farms in accordance with existing feeding standards and vitamin mixing technologies. The rates of introduction depend on the composition of the feed, the type and age of farm animals, including birds. Recommended rates of introduction of the drug (IU/kg of feed):
- Pigs:
- Suckling piglets – 15,000-20,000;
- Pigs for fattening – 8000-12000;
- Sows and boars – 12,000-200,000.
- Cattle:
- Calves of the dairy period - 20,000-32,000;
- Repair young stock – 20,000-40,000;
- Cattle for fattening – 40,000-70,000;
- Dry cows – 80,000-100,000;
- Dairy cows – 100,000-150,000 IU.
- Farm poultry:
- Broiler chickens up to 21 days old – 10,000-12,500;
- Broiler chickens over 21 years old – 8,000-12,000;
- Replacement young stock – 8000-10000;
- Laying hens – 8000-12000;
- Breeding poultry – 12,000-15,000;
- Turkeys for fattening up to 28 days of age – 10,000-14,000;
- Turkeys for fattening after 28 days of age – 8,000-12,000;
- Turkeys of the parent flock – 12,000-15,000.
Overdose: It is important to follow the instructions for use.
Special precautions: Feed with added Vitamin A can be stored at a temperature not exceeding 50ºС to avoid destruction of vitamins.
Special precautions for personnel: When using Vitamin A, it is necessary to follow the general rules of personal hygiene and safety precautions that are provided for when working with feed additives. It is important to use personal protective equipment: overalls, rubber gloves, and safety glasses.
